The Levellers certainly have their heart in the right place -- concluding track "The Battle of the Beanfield" commemorates a notorious Thatcher-era crackdown on a group of travelers -- but on Levelling the Land, they're neither fish nor fowl, not great nor pathetic. They're enjoyable enough and have a way with instant anthems, and that's about it.

Battle Of The Beanfield was the closing track on ’s Levelling The Land. A Top 20 success on the UK album chart, it was the start of a sharp upward trajectory for The Levellers that would bring them a fistful of hit singles over the next few years. “They were interesting times for us,” says Friend.

If so, I would suggest that there is possibly more factual information about the Battle of the Beanfield in them, than most of the major media websites. Stephenjh (talk) , 9 June (UTC) Yes, I am claiming that a herbalism website and an individual's personal blog is not as reliable as the BBC.

Levellers – Battle Of The Beanfield Lyrics. from album: Levelling The Land () I thought I heard something calling me I've seen the pictures on tv And I made up my mind that I'd go and see With my own eyes It didn't take too long to hitch a ride With a guy going south to start a new life.
